Trick Dog                                                                   6 sessions | $90

For teams with basic skills who can work happily in a group class.

Spin! Crawl! Back Up! Have fun teaching your dog a variety of tricks and train the tricks needed for the new AKC Trick Dog titles. There are 4 levels of Trick Dog titles - Novice (TKN), Intermediate (TKI), Advanced (TKA) and Performer (TKP). Testing is included, except for the Performer routine which is evaluated by AKC by video.

All breeds can earn titles with AKC. AKC registration is required, mixed breeds can register as an AKC Canine Partner to earn titles. Owners submit their completed test and application with fee to AKC to for their titles.

Dog Obedience Guidance School
 Beginner Class                                                         6 weeks $90.00

open to all dogs and puppies 3 month of age and older. The course teaches the dog owner how to train their own dog.

The basics: Come when called,sit,down, stand, walk on loose leash plus more.  Call to reserve a spot.

Dog Obedience Guidance School
Rally Obedience                                                              $10 Drop in   
Wednesdays   9:30-10:30am                   with Donna Blews Pappas 
This class is geared for dog owners wanting to compete at AKC/UKC/ASCA, etc Rally dog Shows. Rally is a set of signs that have instructions on them. The signs are set up as a course. The dog and owner walk the course stopping at the signs and follow the direction on each sign. The owner makes the dog do what is written on the sign and then moves on to the next sign.

This class is geared for the competitive Rally Exhibitor. Come learn the New AKC Rally Master Signs and new AKC Rules for the AKC Masters Class.
Breed Handling Class                                                       $10 Drop in

Training will be done by Kathy Figueroal. Her Saint Bernard won Best of Breed at Westminister 2008. Come share her expertise!
Competition run thrus                                                        $5 per run

For those competing in obedience at dog shows. Designed for the dog owner who wants to compete in the Regular Obedience classes at AKC/UKC/ASCA,etc dog shows. The owner and dog are run thru routines they would encounter while competing at these dogs shows.Minimal drop in fee per run thru.
Group Heeling class (Intermediate class)                   $10/ 1 hour

Open to anyone wishing to continue their training, or prep their dog for Dog shows. The group heeling class is geared for the dog owners who wish to further their dogs training past a beginner class. In this class they perfect their training. It is also open to anyone who wished to continue their training to perfect their dogs performance to compete at AKC/UKC/ASCA,etc shows. Minimal drop in fee for the hour.
Beginner Class                                                                     $90.00     
Thursday 10:30-11:30                          with Donna Blews Pappas     

This class is open to all pet owners, and even those who show, who wish to learn how to train their own dog, or starting out a new dog in training. Tips are given on all aspects of dog training and behavior. Lessons taught are: walking on a loose leash, respond always to your commands for sit, stand, stay, come when called. Other topics touched upon are unwanted behaviors in the home and out in public areas, and how to work to remove these behaviors to make the dog a better Canine Citizen around all distractions. 6 week class meeting once a week for 1 hour. Homework is given each week and reviewed the next week of class.

Taught according to the AKC guidelines for the AKC STAR Puppy program. All puppies completing the 6 week beginner class who are between the ages of 3 months to 1 year will receive an application to be sent into AKC (the American Kennel Club) to receive the AKC Star Puppy certificate and medal. This program is open to all puppies purebred and mixbreed and designer breed

For teams with basic skills who want to train for Competition and can work happily in a group class.
Teach and practice a mix of exercises and skills for CDSP & AKC Novice through advanced obedience. Develop skills for precision, reliability and teamwork. Add some games, Rally and tricks for fun!  Skills are taught and practiced with positive reinforcement and marker/clicker training. Your dogs favorite reinforcers will be needed.
Advanced Agility

Agility can be a great sport for you and your dog even if you never plan on competing in the sport. All dogs can enjoy the sport. They will learn confidence, obedience and will build a great bond with you.


 Puppy Life Skills 1                                              $110 | 6 sessions

For puppies 8 weeks to 6 months

Get started on a lifetime of good habits with your puppy. Teach basic skills, walking on leash, settle on a mat, an emergency recall, fun tricks and more. Tips on managing common puppy behaviors and changing unwanted behaviors. Positive reinforcement and marker/clicker training are used to teach the puppies, treats and toys are used to reinforce good behavior.

For teams that have completed Life Skills 1
Continue to practice and build on the skills started in Life Skills 1. Improve reliability with distractions. Teach stays, leave it. Life Skills 2 is scheduled after Life Skills 1 has ended.

Donna Blews-Pappas has been involved with dogs and dog related activities since 1975. Also a member of the National Association of Dog Obedience Instructors (NADOI), she has been the owner of D.O.G.S since 1989 and has been conducting Group Beginner Classes, Advanced Classes, and private lessons. Donna also gives instruction for the Competitive Dog Show Exhibitor with instruction in Novice, Open, Utility and Rally.

Jim has been training dogs all his life, but after retiring from the U.S. Air Force, (Field Medic), he started working with dogs in Behavior Modification, Dog Sports and in basic dog training skills.

But Pyro, one of Jim’s dogs has helped him learn more than any formal training class could ever do. Pyro is an Australian Shepherd, a herding breed, that has dog to dog issues, hyper anxiety levels and is hyper vigilant. Jim wanted to help him to live in our human world and in this effort he traveled, with Pyro throughout the U.S. working with some of the best trainers in the U.S.

Sue has had dogs most of her life, starting with a beagle as a child. She began clicker training her dogs in 1996 and has been enthusiastic about using positive reinforcement to teach animals ever since.
She has shown her dogs in CDSP and AKC and has titles in Agility, Obedience, Rally Obedience and Trick Dog. Her dogs have earned many placements and High in Trials.  She is currently enjoying training and preparing her Border Collies to show in AKC Obedience, Rally and Tricks and in CDSP Obedience.

Sue is a graduate of the Karen Pryor Academy for Animal Training and Behavior, graduating from their Dog Trainer Professional program with distinction and becoming a Certified Training Partner in January 2010.  Sue continues her education by attending seminars, workshops, and taking courses.
